Post processing reveal

Let’s shed some light on a digital photography post-processing. Often (not this particular shoot), due to our busy life, it’s impossible to understand how much work is done when you receive processed photos. Nothing surprising. Even me, some time ago, was thinking that this is much faster process.

As an example, I’ll take my fresh photoshoot of Milena and Alicia. Two hours of session gave me more than 500 photos of girls representing different characters. The client received 77 edited photos in high resolution, plus their screen versions.

To do this, it was necessary to review images carefully and select the best. Then the basic post-processing takes place: exposure correction, color balance, and cropping (in order to improve a composition). However, the photo gets a finished look only when attention is paid to other elements: retouching and skin correction, removal of unwanted objects from the scene, color replacement, stylization, etc. And this work is the most time-consuming part. Moreover, I must emphasize that it is not a “Photoshop” with the magic button “Make it cool”. It is a learning time, experience, and taste education.

Please, have a look at two photos below showing before and after processing (for display purposes cropping was done in advance).
